Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
Traffic movement on Kolkata’s Taratala flyover was temporarily suspended on Tuesday morning after a leak was detected in an LPG tanker travelling along the stretch. Authorities immediately closed the flyover to vehicular movement as a precautionary measure, leading to traffic congestion on the busy Diamond Harbour Road corridor. No injuries or property damage were reported.
According to police, the incident was reported at around 7.55 a.m. when the tanker was crossing the flyover. Following reports of the leak, traffic was stopped and emergency protocols were activated to ensure public safety. The closure resulted in temporary disruption for commuters using the arterial route.
A fire engine was rushed to the location, and emergency personnel began efforts to assess and contain the situation. Police and fire brigade officials coordinated operations on the spot while restricting access to the affected stretch until safety checks could be completed.
Officials said the leak was brought under control within a short period. A police officer stated that the situation was contained quickly and that no untoward incident occurred during the operation. Emergency teams continued monitoring the tanker while carrying out necessary safety measures. Eyewitnesses reported seeing black smoke emerging from the tanker, causing concern among commuters and nearby residents. After a detailed safety assessment by the authorities, the flyover was reopened and normal traffic movement resumed on the route.
